The project Life ESC 360 wants to create opportunities for young people by working on the monitoring of protected species in state owned reserves in Italy. Monitoring is a vital step for nature conservation as only data on the conservation status of species allow a targeted management of reserves. Data collected by the volunteers represent an increase in knowledge on the presence and conservation status of species of Community interest, according to the reporting under the Article 17 of the Habitats Directive. The volunteers will be trained appropriately and will apply standard monitoring protocols for the monitoring of numerous species of invertebrates, amphibians, avifauna, mammals of Community importance and forest habitats.
